From Indiana to Baltimore: GE Lightspeed & Signa 16x De-installation for Parts
At Imaging Service Solutions, we take pride in making sure quality parts from legacy and in-use imaging systems continue serving the medical community. Recently our team was on the road in Indiana for a full system de-installation of a GE Lightspeed CT scanner and a Signa 16x MRI system, preparing both units for parts recovery and return transport to our warehouse in Baltimore, MD.
The operation was meticulously planned and required safe extraction without compromising the components inside. These machines still held immense value—not only in their major components like gantries, coils, and gradient amplifiers, but also in smaller parts such as power supplies, cables, and user interface modules that are often difficult to source on short notice.
Our engineers carefully disassembled the GE Lightspeed CT unit first. Known for its reliability in high-throughput environments, this scanner is still actively used in hospitals and outpatient centers across the country. That makes its components—like the X-ray tube, slip ring, detectors, and boards—extremely valuable to biomedical engineers and service providers looking to keep their machines running without breaking the bank.
Next up was the Signa 16x MRI de-installation. This system still sees regular use in facilities that rely on its stable performance and well-supported platform. Coils, gradient drivers, helium compressors, and RF shielding components were all carefully tagged and packed for secure transport.
With both systems fully disassembled and inventoried, our truck headed east, back to our Baltimore headquarters. Once they arrive, each part will be inspected, cleaned, tested (when applicable), and added to our growing inventory of replacement imaging parts. We understand how critical uptime is in a medical environment, which is why we strive to keep a robust selection of components on hand, ready to ship when you need them most.
This project is another reminder of how valuable system de-installations can be—not just for sustainability, but for keeping other healthcare facilities running smoothly without waiting weeks for OEM parts. Our commitment is to bridge the gap between downtime and diagnosis by offering fast, reliable parts and expert service.
